RACE DATE: Sunday 15th May 2022

We are delighted to announce that this year’s Great Carradale Canter Ultra 5K &10K event will take place on Sunday 15th May 2022, and be part of the Kintyre Running Festival. The Canter will follow the same route as previous years.

Check-in will open at about 1000 and close at 1100. Race briefing on the start line at 1120.

The 10K will start promptly at 1130 and the 5K will start at 1135.

There are three races:

10K      £17 entry fee.  First and second trophies plus first veteran over the line. Separate ladies and men's races.

5K        £13 entry fee.  First and second trophies plus first veteran over the line. Separate ladies and men's races.

Under 16 5K      £9 entry fee.  First and second trophies.

There is a £2 discount for Members of Scottish Athletics – other running clubs must pay the full price.

Race Timing will be carried out electronically using ankle bands.

Some of the 10K route is on public pathways. Participants are advised to use pavements where possible and avoid running on the road. There will be no road closures during this event. The rest of the race will be off-road over country paths and Carradale Bay beach. Depending on the weather the off-road sections could be muddy underfoot and people are advised to wear appropriate footwear. People are also advised to be careful as the surfaces are uneven and may become slippy. The use of headphones will not be permitted during the race. ALL participants MUST follow directions from Marshalls, Coast Guard and Police.

There is no parking at the harbour car park. Participants are advised to use the parking at the Primary School, at Port na Storm and at the village hall. These places will be clearly marked.

Racegoers and support are advised to walk to the start line at the harbour car park.

The race starts and finishes at Carradale Harbour, but not at exactly the same place..

The 10K course enjoys a hilly start on the local roads before heading for Carradale Bay and then forest roads, before returning to the village. Then the route is across fields to Shore Road and back to the Harbour. The 5k run follows a similar route but has a shortcut before the beach. A map will be included in the entrant pack to be emailed out to all participants.

The 5K course is actually 5.7K.

There will be water stations available at Caravan Site road (after the beach), Carradale Network Centre, and at the finish line. Traybakes will be available at the finish line for participants.

Race places CANNOT be transferred or refunded once you have entered.
