Lothian Running Club  offer you the opportunity to run some, all, or more of the West Lothian Shale Trail route on Sunday 8 December 2024.

The West Lothian Shale Trail is a walking and cycling route between Winchburgh and West Calder via Broxburn and the Almond Valley Heritage Centre using the Union Canal.

Whether you're a seasoned trail racer, or a newbie, there's something for everyone:

·       50K Race: Perfect for all marathon and ultra runners and an ideal event for anyone new to ultra running.

Every finisher receives a medal - a tangible reminder of their accomplishment and hard work.

THE COURSE

All races take place on the West Lothian Shale Trail. We may have to alter the route and distance due to circumstances beyond our control. If the race is cancelled due to severe weather conditions or any other unforeseen circumstances, it’ll be rescheduled to a later date. Dogs and pushchairs are not allowed on any race.

The route will be well marked, and there’ll be plenty of marshals, as well as a tail runner for all races. In the interests of the safety of both competitors and marshals there will be a 8 hour cut off for the 50K.
