GAA Sprint Gala Meeting 1 2018

Wednesday 30th May 2018 is the first GAA Sprint Gala of the outdoor season, taking place at Scotstoun Stadium, 18:30 - 21:00.

Events on offer include U18 Sprint Hurdles European Youth Qualifying Opportunity (110mH for U18 Men and 100m Hurldes for U18 Women), 100m open to all age groups, 300m open to everyone U15 and above, and a Hurdle Relay of 4 x 80m Hurdles (at U17W specifications, open to all U17 and above). Athlete's will be given the opportunity to enter two 100m races for the night. All races will run from slowest heat to fastest.  The GAA plans to run the races as "Run with the Wind" i.e. if there is a strong headwind in the homestraight, move the finish line to the backstraight 200m. A decision will be made earlier in the afternoon on the day of the meeting.

We will also be offering three field events at the meeting: Shot Putt, High Jump and Long Jump. Events will be limited to one pool each of 12 athletes, U15 and above. Athletes will be given 6 attempts in the Shot Putt and Long Jump. Height progressions in the High Jump will be pre-set but are still to be confirmed. Online entry only.

The maximum number of athletes for the meeting will be around 200. The meeting will run from 6:30pm - 9:00pm. Entries will operate on a FIRST COME FIRST SERVE basis, once the event is full entries will close, so enter quick to avoid missing out. We will aim to operate a waiting list if the events fill up, please inform us if you are no longer able to compete.

The GAA will be offering am £800 Prize Pot for winning performances IF they are under the target times.

£150  Men's 300m, 35.50

£150 Women's 300m, 40.50

£100 Winning Hurdle Relay team (subject to 3 teams competing)

Any athlete to run under the specified time will split the pot i.e. if only 1 male runs under 10.80 in the 100m he will win £200, if 5 athlete's run under the time they will each win £40, and so on for each event. If no athlete hits the time for that event, the prize pot will roll over to the next meeting. We will be using only one 100m (fastest on the night) for athletes in the 100m.
