Javelin Development Day Glasgow

The session will take place on the 11th of January 2025 in Kilbarchan AAC Indoor Training Centre, On-X Brediland Road, Linwood, Renfrewshire, PA3 3RA. We will cover the following - 

• Session 1  (10:00 - 12:00): A technical throwing session, where we will focus on the key elements of javelin technique, offering hands-on coaching tips and drills to enhance your skills and knowledge as a coach, working with your own athlete(s).

• Afternoon (12:30 - 14:00): A session planning workshop, where we will dive into creating a semi-structured 6-8 week training programme tailored to your specific group of athletes. We will provide guidance on planning, target-setting, and how to build effective training blocks leading into the outdoor season.

This day will serve as the first meeting of our coach development programme, and our goal is to continue supporting you as you implement what you’ve learned while also building a network of progressive javelin coaches. We plan to reconvene at the end of the programme to track progress, review training outcomes, and make adjustments for the next training block.

We believe that building confidence and providing support to our javelin coaches is key to growing the sport and getting more athletes involved in javelin across Scotland. By collaborating and sharing knowledge, we hope to bring javelin back to a strong position within Scottish athletics.
