Rutherglen Christian Aid Fun Run/Walk Overtoun Park Sunday 12th June

Want to have a fun afternoon and help us raise money for the work of Christian Aid?  Then sign up here today!  The more runners, joggers and walkers who get involved, the more fun everyone will have.  Dress up or wear something red if you like, but make sure your feet are comfortable!

The 5K ROUTE (for age 7+) goes three times clockwise round the outside of Overtoun Park and is open to all abilities.

The all-age 1K ROUTE is entirely within the park - running, walking, toddling, or (for children only) on a tricycle, scooter or similar.

Please book ahead here on or by collecting a paper entry form from your local church and handing it in at Stonelaw Church, Rutherglen (opposite Rutherglen Health Centre in Stonelaw Road.) Or email by Friday 3rd June 2022 to request a paper copy of the entry form.
We can only accept entries on the day if our numbers allow.

In late May/early June we will send out your running number and the details you need for the event. Meanwhile, here’s some useful information:

  • Check in: 1.45pm onwards  Warm up at the bandstand: 2.15pm  1K start: 2.30pm  5K start:3:00pm
  • Everyone who completes the 1K or the 5K will be given a certificate with your name on it, and a goody bag!
  • The Christian Aid Fun Run/Walk is a fun challenge, not a serious competitive event. It will not be timed, but feel free to use a watch or phone to record your own time as you cross the start and finish line.
  • Please check in from 1.45pm - 2.10pm, ready to run/jog/walk in whatever weather conditions we have on 12th June.  This is Scotland, remember!  No changing facilities will be available in the park.
  • Toilet facilities are still to be confirmed, but access to at least one toilet will be provided.
  • To save plastic waste, please bring your own water bottle, labelled if possible.  You will be able to refill your bottle in the park.
  • When you finish your event, don’t forget to collect your Finisher Certificate - and your goodies!

Could you help Christian Aid to turn hunger into hope?
You're already helping, if you decide to sign up for the Fun Run/Walk! But between us all we can help even more hungry families by inviting friends and family to sponsor us.
Just let people know you're taking part in the FunRun/Walk and share our JustGiving page:
If you'd rather use a paper sponsor form, you can request one by emailing Jean on

Christian Aid works with, and campaigns for, people of all faiths and none.
You and your sponsors could give strength and hope to vulnerable families like Jessica's in Tanzania, East Africa - by providing water taps for a community garden, or by helping the community to build storerooms where precious food can be stored and preserved.
