Autumn Charity Fun Run and Walk

Date: Sunday, 11 October 2026
Location: Edinburgh Outdoor Fitness – Inverleith Park, Edinburgh

Autumn Charity Fun Run and Walk is a community-focused charity sporting event designed to bring people of all ages and abilities together through physical activity, friendship and community participation.

The event will offer a choice of walking and running activities, allowing participants to take part according to their age, fitness level and individual abilities. The programme has been designed to be inclusive and welcoming, with a particular focus on families, children, older people and participants with disabilities.

Event Programme

10:00 – 10 km Charity Walk

The day will begin with a 10 km charity walk. This activity is aimed at participants who enjoy longer walks and want to take on a personal challenge while supporting the charitable purpose of the event. Participants will be encouraged to walk at their own pace, with volunteers available to provide guidance and support.

12:30 – Family Fun Run & Walk – 2 km

The Family Fun Run & Walk will provide an opportunity for families, children and people of different abilities to participate together.

The 2 km route will be designed to be accessible for wheelchair users and suitable for participants with disabilities. The emphasis will be on participation, enjoyment and inclusion rather than competition.

Families will be encouraged to complete the route together, creating a friendly and positive atmosphere for children and adults.

13:15 – 5 km Cross-Country Run

The 5 km Cross-Country Run will offer participants the opportunity to take part in a more challenging running activity in the natural surroundings of Inverleith Park.

The run will be open to people with different levels of running experience. It will be a community fun run rather than an elite sporting competition, encouraging participants to challenge themselves and enjoy being active outdoors.

14:00 – 5 km Charity Walk

The final sporting activity of the day will be a 5 km charity walk.

This walk will provide another opportunity for people who may not wish to run, or who prefer a shorter distance than the morning 10 km walk. It will be suitable for adults, families and older participants who want to take part in a relaxed and social activity.

Inclusive and Community-Focused Event

A key objective of the Autumn Charity Fun Run and Walk is to ensure that physical activity is accessible to as many people as possible.

The event will welcome runners and walkers of different ages and abilities. Participants will not be expected to compete at a high sporting level. Instead, the focus will be on taking part, improving wellbeing, meeting other people and supporting the charitable purpose of the event.

Volunteers and event stewards will be available throughout the day to provide information, directions and practical support to participants.

The event will also provide an opportunity for families and members of the local community to spend time together outdoors in a safe, friendly and positive environment.

Charity and Community Spirit

The event will combine physical activity with charitable fundraising. Participants will have the opportunity to support the chosen charitable cause through participation and donations.

The organisers aim to create an atmosphere where everyone feels welcome, regardless of age, fitness level or ability. The event will celebrate participation and community spirit rather than focusing only on sporting performance.

Autumn Charity Fun Run and Walk will therefore be more than a series of running and walking activities. It will be a day bringing together families, friends, volunteers and the wider community through sport, inclusion, wellbeing and charitable support.
